SHARING THE ACCOMPLIHMENTS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN NORTHERN NEVADA HISTORY

The Wynns

Continuing the heritage of praising God, solidly established by their parents Minister W. J. Wynn and Rochelle Wynn, The Wynns are a jewel in the crown of the Northern Nevada African- American community. Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, these beautiful multi-talented women of God have faithfully progressed in the gospel arena.

Along with six recordings under their belt, they have excelled as individuals as well. For example, Robby is a well-established evangelist known nation wide. Juanita is a gifted Stellar and Dove Nominee songwriter and arranger. Patricia is a conference organizer/leader and a songwriter as well.

The Wynns, collectively and individually, have shared the stage with renowned artists such as Keith Pringle, Tramaine Hawkins, Interfaith Gospel Choir of Reno, Nevada under the direction of Dr. Jesse Hall, Shirley Ceaser, Mary Mary, and Hezekiah Walker just to name a few.

They are a complete Spirit filled package that is greatly admired and respected. The term “A family that prays together stays together” is presented in full and reach harmonic color and sound in regards to The Wynns.

And family is the key word here. For they show on a daily basis commitment to God, their family, their ministry, and their music. With the help and talent of their brother, Pastor William John Wynn, The Wynns have made sure that a message of hope and encouragement is heard through their songs of praise and adoration.

Shown above, not in this order: Patricia, Leisa, Wilhelmina, Robbye, Karen, Sharon, and Juanita Patricia Wynn Tau (center/far left) was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and is a woman of many talents. Along with being Co-Pastor of Word of Life Ministries, and past Minister of Music for Faith Deliverance/Jehovah Jireh Church for over thirty years, she is also a producer, arranger, composer, recording artist, performer and the backbone of the nationally known gospel group “The Wynns”.

Patricia has shared her gift of music at such events such as the Nevada Governor’s Inauguration 1999, Sugar Ray Leonard Title Fight, Reno Rodeo and more. She is also founder/coordinator of Praise Explosion, an annual event which founded the New Artist Gospel Showcase in Reno, Nevada.

“Visionary” is a word that describes this spiritual/community leader very well and she is quoted as saying, “My Prayer: To convey a message of hope, love and peace through songs of praise, worship and adoration and teach the word of God without compromise”.
