2025 continued to be a challenge. Experiencing a significant loss along with protecting the value and integrity of the experiences, accomplishments and contributions of the unsung in Northern Nevada history.



January

7th - Kenneth B Dalton, Our Story, Inc. and the Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum founder & president passed away. He is and will be missed beyond measure. We here at Our Story, Inc. are determined to continue his vision for Our Story, Inc


11th - City of Reno & City of Reno Fire Department acknowledge Kenneth B Dalton with an honorary fire department drive by. Thank you City of Reno!


23rd - Representatives from Washoe County tour our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


27th - Our Story, Inc. did a presentation for the Reno Midtown Rotary Club.


February

1st - Our Story, Inc. launches its 6th Annual Northern Nevada Black History Month Daily Fact.


4th - Our Story, Inc. receives official notification that the Black Springs Volunteer Fire Department building which houses our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum.


5th - The City of Reno honors Our Story, Inc’s founder/president Kenneth B Dalton at the Believe Plaza


23rd - Baja Youth Group tours our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


26th - Our Story, Inc. did a presentation at a youth group home during their educational time.


March

29th - Our Story, Inc. host an open house at the new office.


April

26th - Our Story, Inc. celebrated its 3rd Annual Day for the Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum. This also marks the 500+ visitors since our museum opening.


May

13th - 70+ students/educators toured our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


June

13th - Our Story, Inc. receives a storage container from Washoe County for our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum.


21st - Our Story, Inc. displayed an exhibit at the Hillside Cemetery Foundation Fundraiser.


July

4th - Hosted the Mandela Fellows with a presentation and tour of the Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


August

27th - Our Story, Inc. hosted Nevada Land Trust with a tour of our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


September

17th - Our Story, Inc. hosted a UNR History Class with a tour of our Northern Nevada African American Firefighter Museum and the Historic Black Springs, Nevada.


October

10th - Our Story, Inc. Board members attended a meeting in Goldfield, Nevada along with folks from Nevada Land Trust, Goldfield Main Street, Goldfield Historical Society representatives, Esmeralda County Commissioner and Central Nevada Museum representative. There was visits to the historic Dinky Diner, Goldfield Commuity Center, Goldfield Visitor Center, Central Nevada Museum and the Tonapah Mine Park. It was a great opportunity to meet those passionate about supporting the important history of Goldfield, Nevada as well an opportunity to see how we can best help support that history.


21st - Our Story, Inc. takes on the management of the Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society


December

26th - provided information in the making of "Babbitt Nevada, USA: A World War II Era Ghost Town" documentary

Our Story, Inc. would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all who contributed their time, finances, artifacts, stories, muscle, and encouragement as we continue to share the stories of the unsung.


A special thank you to our volunteers, Noah Levingston, Helen Townsell, Darrell Simmons, Mike Knapp, George Hardaway, Greg Black, Ondra Berry, Alicia Barber, Washoe County, Nevada Humanities and the Firematic Group of Northern Nevada.


We will continue to take our mission to new levels and are proud to be a vessel that shares the historic accomplishments of individuals seldom mentioned and rarely taught in public  venues.
